I was 15 years old when I first felt the heat of an electric arc. While most of my friends were navigating high school cafeterias and trying to fit in, I was in a workshop, hidden behind a heavy welding mask, learning how to fuse two pieces of steel into one.
That was 21 years ago. Two decades of ozone, burnt leather, and the rhythmic hum of a transformer. I didn't know it then, but those thousands of hours spent as a sculptor and welder were laying the foundation for everything I do today at Black Rabbit Creative.
To most people, welding and branding seem like polar opposites. One is gritty, physical, and dangerous; the other is digital, psychological, and polished. But in the world of high-end design, the physics are remarkably similar.

In the digital world, we are spoiled by Cmd + Z. If a designer makes a mistake, they hit a button and the error vanishes. It creates a culture of "try and see," which is great for exploration but dangerous for discipline.
When you’re welding, there is no undo button. If you apply too much heat, the metal warps. If your hand shakes, the weld is "cold" and brittle. You have to live with every movement you make.

This physical consequence taught me a level of precision that most designers never have to develop. In branding, this translates to intentionality. We don't just "try" things at Black Rabbit. Every line, every color choice: specifically our signature Deep Violet (#5B3FD6): and every typographic decision is made with the same finality as a bead of molten steel.

In 21 years of metalwork, I never once saw a "fast and cheap" weld hold up under a heavy load. Not once.
Speed is the enemy of craft. When you rush a weld, you trap impurities. When you rush a brand, you trap assumptions. Both lead to failure.
